Dr. David Samadi Discusses How Pro-Inflammatory Diets Increase Colon Cancer Risks

Posted by eastcoop on

According to famed urologist and robotic surgeon, Dr. David Samadi, people indulging in unhealthy diets are doing a lot of harm to their health. A diet that promotes inflammation in the body may increase the risk of developing colorectal cancer, according to a new study published in Jama Oncology. For years, the board-certified urologist has been discussing the ramifications of a poor diet, and how lifestyle choices can significantly diminish risks for cancer.

The diet modulates inflammation, one of the mechanisms that can be important in the development of colorectal cancer, and can therefore be a crucial modifying factor in preventing the disease.

For 26 years, researchers followed 46,804 men, and 74,246 women to determine if a pro-inflammatory diet increased the risk of colorectoral cancer. Researchers determined that there were 2,699 cases of colorectal cancer. After examining the data, it was determined that the risk of developing colorectal cancer from pro-inflammatory diets were as high as 44% for men, and 22% for women.

Dr. David Samadi says, a diet particularly rich in fats and processed red meat, refined cereals, and high-calorie sugary drinks can cause a generalized inflammatory state in the body. That increases the risk of colon cancer, especially in overweight people. Dr. Samadi stresses that it has been known for a while that chronic inflammation, in general, is an important risk factor for many tumors.

It’s estimated that colon cancer will be diagnosed in about 140,000 people this year. Colon cancer has become more common, and Dr. Samadi says if diagnosed promptly, patients can have a good survival rate. His tips for diminishing risks include:

1. Stop smoking since it’s a known cause for the formation of tumors in the body.
2. Reduce body weight. Maintaining a good BMI reduces the probability of developing colon cancer by 15%.
3. Consume foods rich in fiber every day because it cleans out the colon, and improves the health of the intestinal flora.

Internationally recognized urologic expert, Dr. David Samadi primary expertise is in urologic diseases. Named as New York Metro Top Doctors, as well as the Patient’s Choice Awards for five consecutive years, Dr. Samadi helps navigate patients through their diagnoses, options, and treatments. He serves as Chairman of Urology at Lenox Hill Hospital, and is one of a very few experienced doctors, recognized for expertise in oncology, open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery.

Posted by eastcoop on

Mark Mofid, MD is a certified San Diego-based cosmetic surgeon. He is an alma mater of the medical school of The John Hopkins University, where he also did his surgical specialisation.Dr. Mark Mofid is beholden among the leading experts in his line of work and has also been highly appraised by those that have been treated by him. He has been highly appraised by patients and peers for being a meticulous and reliable cosmetic surgeon.

Many of us today are afforded the luxury of an advanced medical practice that has enabled us to make alternations, actually enhancements, on ourselves. Cosmetic surgery is not only geared towards looking good but we have to admit that people do also feel better about themselves afterwards. It does indeed psyche us up.

Dr Mark Mofid’s contributions go beyond the operating room as he does share his expertise on different platforms. The subjects range from topics such as micro-needling, which I just had to Google now, and learnt that it is an anti-aging procedure induced by creating tiny wounds on the skin, that eventually leaves it to rejuvenate itself. Micro-needling is actually the in-thing on skin care right now. So do not sweat the needles, just go to an expert, such as Dr Mofid.

The doctor also does training videos for other professionals in his field on some of his operating techniques. The craniofacial research fellow offers a wide range of facial rekindling procedures, breast enhancements, skin rejuvenation, including hair removal and a wide range of body revitalisation procedures including gluteal augmentation, which is fancy for butt implants.

There is a wide controversy surrounding butt implants, but with the experience and observanteyes of a professional of Dr Mark Mofid’s calibre, patients can rest assured of a safe and successful procedure. Dr Mofid credits a philosophy of continuous innovation, guided by a discerning approach to his work as the leading lights in the progression of his career as a surgeon.

Eric Lefkofsky Leverages Technology to Drive High-Impact Healthcare Initiatives

Posted by eastcoop on

The cost of healthcare in the US has increased by almost a trillion dollars in just over twenty years. Several factors have contributed to this upsurge. The levies charged by health care providers have gone up. Patients are also going for more comprehensive and thus, more costly care. Other factors such as the rise in populations as well as a larger group of seniors have also fueled the rise in costs.

How often you visit the healthcare provider has had little effect on the equation. For one thing, recent studies by the Jama network as well as the Johns Hopkins University support the price argument. They confirm that high prices of services and medications are driving the healthcare costs. The Jama report carries fascinating breakdowns that give insights into the specific sectors. Diabetes tops the list with a massive percentage of the bill going to drug companies.

Conditions affecting the lower back as well as the neck are increasingly demanding more intensive care, coming in second in the study. In a strange twist, while hospital stays have become shorter, the inpatient bill has shot through the roof. Pharmaceuticals have a hard time justifying the high cost of drugs. There is no evidence to show that the cost of medications gets offset by any other factor in the equation.

Tempus is one of the healthcare technology firms that are at the forefront of enabling high-quality care for cancer patients. It is promising to drive the next revolution in healthcare. The startup was co-founded by Eric Lefkofsky, a prominent figure on the tech and entrepreneurship scene. The firm leverages technology including intelligent platforms to deliver personalized care services to cancer patients.

Tempus enables doctors to understand a particular patient’s tumors using genome sequencing and analysis. Eric Lefkofsky has a rich history of supporting the oncology research scene. Through the Lefkofsky Family Foundation, which he co-chairs, he donates generously to cancer centers and research initiatives at various organizations.

Some of the institutions he is affiliated with include the Lurie Children’s Hospital, The Giving Pledge and the University of Michigan among numerous others. Eric Lefkofsky is committed to enhancing the quality of life through education, groundbreaking research, a focus on cultural initiatives, as well as basic human rights.
